Founded by Simon Stewart, Charles Burnand Gallery is an internationally renowned gallery representing established and emerging designers and artists. Located in London's Fitzrovia Design District, the gallery draws an international clientele seeking one-of-a-kind and editioned collectable designs and studio artworks from a diverse roster of talent. The gallery honours fine craftsmanship while emphasising the use of sustainable materials and production techniques.
Outside of artist representations, Charles Burnand Gallery offers an in-house design and production studio capable of realising custom commissions through its roster of world-class global artisans, including the gallery's exhibiting artists, who create bespoke pieces for a prestigious network of collectors, interior designers and architects. The gallery's team of material alchemists understand and uphold ancient techniques and creative practises, working with a range of mediums including bronze, cast glass, silver, mica and more.
The founder of Charles Burnand Gallery is Simon Stewart, an experienced curator and artist who oversees each of Charles Burnand Gallery's selling exhibitions within the Fitzrovia space and at global fairs. Stewart also collaborates with the gallery's talented roster of artisans to create bespoke works for clients, often fostering collaborations between multiple artisans. Stewart's eye for emerging talent often results in new introductions into the United Kingdom or the elevation of a young maker prior to institutional recognition. Simon Stewart established Charles Burnand Gallery in 2009, reimaging a home and objet d'art store originally founded by his mother, a notable florist and stylist for prominent English society members in the 1960s. Stewart is a classically trained woodwind musician, having pursued the conservatory graduate programme as a scholar at the Royal College of Music. The instruction and discipline he mastered as a performer now influences his present work and craft. The name "Charles Burnand" represents Stewart's grandfather, whom he idolised but never had the opportunity to meet - his legacy lives on with the gallery.
