Pounding Silence draws its inspiration from Dumbung-jucho, the traditional stone footings found in Korean architecture.
These foundational stones are neither ornamental nor perfect. They are quiet presences, bearing the weight of structures with unspoken humility.
The bench embodies this spirit through its raw, unrefined texture and its form that resists conventional archetypes. It does not seek completion, but instead embraces the beau ty of restraint, imperfection, and stillness.
The stone base and pillar merge into a singular, inseparable body, evoking a sense of grounded unity. Myungtaek hopes to shape a language of reverence and quiet balance, where the silent dialogue between mass and void gives rise to meaning.
