Kyeok seeks to express through the medium of “skin,” the thresholds where memory lingers and flows. This skin is not a mere surface, but a hazy frontier between past and present, between reality and illusion.
By layering powdered wood and natural lacquer, Kyeok inscribes time onto matter. Yet at the instant she attempts to seal time upon the surface, hidden traces emerge, and memory vibrates between these two states.
Wood powder, natural lacquer, these are not mere materials, but vestiges of time, imprints of memory.
