The ‘Dumbung-jucho’ series is a sculptural reinterpretation of the “dumbung jucho”, natural stone foundation blocks traditionally used to support pillars in Korean architecture. Through the union of stone and wood, the works explore the relationship between temporality and structure, reflecting a distinctly Korean aesthetic that harmonizes with nature. By employing materials such as bronze, stainless steel, rivets, and felt, the series emphasizes the pure beauty of materiality. In particular, the deep brown tones evoke the quiet gravity of time’s passage. Balancing tradition and organic form, solidity and flexibility, this series offers a sensorial experience imbued with space for contemplation.
