Cloud Mirror is the second piece from Mia Jung, and was designed as a direct expression and response to her Cloud Console, 2018. The cloud console was born out of the search for the simplest form, that is elegant and at the same time, poetic and saw an opportunity to create a piece that accentuated the beauty of both the Murano glass and the 24 karat precious metals.
For Cloud Mirror, Jung, explored overlapping different shapes and layers but kept returning to her original idea; a simple oval mirror which would counterbalance the linear console. “The idea of a companion mirror for the cloud console kept re-surfacing for a few years, though creating the perfect mirror for the console was a challenge” says Jung. “I thought a lot about elemental and natural forces - the power of wind, a leaf quivering, the silent drag of the moon, a heat haze on the horizon creating a mirage like effect - elements shifting and dancing together all of which could be captured in the undulating surface of the hand poured glass and precious metals”
