The work Doom is an exploration of the fundamental relationship between object and space. It reinterprets the content and form of the stone relics at the Hwangnyongsa Temple Site by making visible the meaning of the human act of placing an object in a specific location, and the spatial and temporal significance that act entails. The fractured and worn cubic masses embody a philosophical reflection on three states of absence: the absence of action, the absence of mind or desire, and the absence of form. Rather than intervening in the process of creation and placement, the work focuses on expressing a natural and self-arising spirit that emerges from the object itself.
