Boulder Lamp 01, takes the idea of the torchière into a softer, more fluid direction. The base rises in a gentle, continuous wave before meeting the Murano glass shade, turning the torch-like gesture into something more intuitive and flowing.
The two forms complement one another while remaining distinct. One has a voluminous, gently faceted lower body that draws upward into a clean vertical profile. The other moves in a slow, undulating rhythm, shaped intuitively. Both converge in a precise transition where the plaster body meets the blown-glass shade. This junction reinforces the sense of height and directs the eye toward the light. Their apparent simplicity conceals the complexity of the process behind them and reflects the studio’s interest in shifting between clearly structured forms and more instinctive shaping.
The bases begin as wooden cores, shaped and refined entirely by hand. The forms are carved and sanded repeatedly before being built up with DEGLAN’s proprietary plaster. The material is applied in many thin layers, re-sanded, filled and corrected until it acquires the density, depth and subtle irregularities that record the work of the hand.
