  • Biography
    Caleb Zipperer
Caleb Zipperer (1973) is an American designer, who graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2001. After two decades living and working in New York City, he recently moved back to his hometown in Savannah, Georgia, where he has an independent design studio.

Zipperer, who was raised by his grandparents, grew up with little supervision - a lucky happenstance that helped his imagination flourish. From a young age, he took things apart - door knobs, appliances- to see how they worked. A deep curiosity remains at the core of Zipperer's practice, which is driven by a desire to understand the fundamental basics and inner mechanisms of our human existence. Zipperer's designs are bold and primordial and exhibit a strong figurative and poetic narrative between form and materials. He is equally inspired by the time he spent in his youth roaming free on the sun-kissed barrier islands off the coast of Georgia, and his adult life getting lost in the magnificent angles of New York City's skyscrapers. Zipperer's work has been exhibited at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, Wanted Designs, and BKLYN designs. It has also been featured in Architectural Digest, Dwell, Surface, and New York Magazine, among other publications.
