Jean-Gabriel Neukomm

Jean-Gabriel Neukomm, AIA, is the founding principal of JG Neukomm Architecture, a firm distinguished by designing timeless and beautiful buildings, interiors, and objects. For over 25 years, Neukomm has crafted a diverse portfolio that encompasses luxury residential, institutional, hospitality, and retail projects. Having received recognition from AIANY Design Awards, Architizer, Dezeen, and countless others, his designs and the work of his interdisciplinary practice is marked by an interest in the humanities, a considered attitude towards luxury, and a blending of the modern, historical, and elemental.

His projects include partnerships on high-profile homes for notable figures like Calvin Klein and Ian Schrager, as well as The Core Club in midtown Manhattan. Neukomm's expertise extends to townhouse living, a complex specialty in the world of New York real estate. The designs result in homes well-calibrated to luxury living, exemplified in the federal-style home in the West Village for Yana Peel, Global Head of Arts and Culture at Chanel and former director of London's Serpentine gallery, recently featured in Architectural Digest. His fashion- and art-oriented work led to several ventures with Fabien Baron of Interview Magazine fame, and numerous creative collaborations, among them his role as a long-time architect for Marian Goodman Gallery for over 15 years.

Neukomm has also designed multi-residential and urban development projects in Miami, Los Angeles, Washington DC and NYC, working with developers including Gotham Organization, Greystar, JBG Smith, Rockrose, CIM, F&T Group, Greenland USA, Blackstone, and Dermot among others. Noteworthy designs include a luxury hotel in lower Manhattan and a boutique gallery tower in the West Village. Retail stores he has designed span the globe and include giants like Calvin Klein Collection, Tiffany & Co., Pringle of Scotland, and Dyson. Often working with historical buildings, he brings a thoughtful contemporary sensibility to complex, large-scale spaces, such as the renovation of a historical Art Deco gem in New York's Financial District.

Neukomm serves on the board of the Design Trust for Public Space and as a Council Member for the Dia Foundation for the Arts. He is a long-time supporter of Open House New York, a member of the AIA New York Interiors Committee, an early supporter of the High Line, and also sponsors the Haverford Center for Humanities and their Summer Humanities Fellowship. His photography, integral to his design process, has been published and displayed, and he continues to lead in the industry through lectures and conference panels, fostering design education and collaboration and support for the arts. Neukomm received his M.Arch. at Princeton University, and his B.A. in philosophy at Haverford College.
