Gareth Devonald-Smith

Gareth Devonald Smith is an established artist and designer with a practice in London, he has currently just finished a large collection of pieces for Kit Kemp's new hotel, The Warren St in Tribeca New York, due to open in Spring 2024.
His work has been commissioned by leading designers like Veere Grenney, and private clients such as Maria Sharapova, and he has a long established collaborative relationship with British company Porta Romana, having designed for them since 2008.
Initially studying textiles both printed and constructed, the latter at Winchester School of art, where he was able to use new technology to produce rugs from his paintings. On finishing his studies Smith worked for designer Mary Fox Linton, creating fabrics, wallpaper and rug designs, and also artwork for her interiors.
Establishing his current practice in an old lighting warehouse, gave him the opportunity to realise his vision to create three dimensional works, in the form of experimental lighting and furniture pieces.
