Carved from a single African teak log with a diameter of 1.8 metres, the work is hollowed from within, treated with the Japanese shou sugi ban technique, and finished with natural wax oil combined with mineral sealing layers. Through high-temperature firing, the charred surface reveals subtle mineral hues left by fire.

The piece deconstructs natural form into shifting perspectives of light and space, merging them into a single object. This generates a fragmented geometry held together by its own inner logic. The act of hollowing is more than technical—it becomes a metaphor of loss, where absence holds memory and time, yet also gestures towards transformation and renewal.
