Building on the refined aesthetics of earlier laminated works, the Primitive Excavations occasional chair
strikes a harmonious balance between delicate craftsmanship and bold sculptural expression. The artist
crafts with an instinctive approach, embracing and rejecting ideas as they arise. The piece breaks away
from conventional techniques, rejecting traditional tools to "excavate" its form from solid mass. Through
tacit methods and a conscious unlearning of the norms of fine craft, the result is a raw, organic structure
that feels both intentional and primal.

The chair's finish further enhances its distinct character, using traditional ebonizing techniques
combined with lime wax to create a textured surface reminiscent of weathered rock. This fusion of form
and finish makes a striking sculptural statement, merging aggressive artistry with a refined sense of
elegance.
