Design Miami in Situ, Seoul : Illuminated, a spotlight on Korean design
In a true celebration of place, this year's largest Design Miami. In Situ activation will consist of a 14-day exhibition dedicated to Korean collectible design presented in collaboration with the Seoul Design Foundation. Hosted within the iconic Dongdaemun Design Plaza, designed by Zaha Hadid, the exhibition will be curated by Hyeyoung Cho , and will feature a diverse selection of works of pioneering contemporary and historic Korean design. Currently serving as the Chairperson of the Korea Association of Art & Design - the oldest academic association for art, design, and craft in Korea - Cho will bring a unique and expert lens to the showcase.
Inspired by the Korean word "조명 (jo-myeong)" , meaning to illuminate, the exhibition has been curated to spotlight Korean design. Dedicated to exploring the innovative craft and influence held by each designer on show, the exhibition will platform the design voices and figures who have shaped the Korean collectible design landscape - from local roots, to global recognition.
