The Noailles Pendant lights were inspired by the grandeur of the Colonne Noailles, a monumental floor lamp that pays homage to the iconic column in the Salon Rose at Mallet Stevens' Villa Noailles on the Côte d'Azur. The Pendant lights capture the same grace and sophistication of the Noailles Column in a more condensed form. They mirror the two superimposed cylinders of the Noailles Column, introducing an interplay of form and proportion, in distinctive hues.
The Noailles Pendant lights exist in two different editions; for each one, the cylinder is customised, one lacquered in orange and the other in violet, in reference to the Column. When combined, the two colours result in the pink hue at the centre of the Column. This approach pays homage to its source of inspiration and continues Mallet Stevens' architectural statement in contemporary design. As much functional luminaires as sculptures of light, they revive the spirit of the Villa Noailles in a new and imaginative way.
