Under Wraps: Inaugural Mayfair Group Exhibition

12 September 2026 - 9 January 2027
Overview

Under Wraps inaugurates Charles Burnand Gallery’s long-awaited new Mayfair home at 20 Bruton Place. Opening during London Design Festival, the exhibition brings together significant new and recent works by internationally acclaimed artists working across Art Furniture, Illuminated Sculpture, Collectable Design and Sculpture.

The exhibition transforms the act of unveiling into a curatorial experience in its own right. Selected works remain veiled beneath semi-translucent architectural sheeting, their forms only partially visible, before being revealed through a carefully choreographed sequence of automated unveilings. Through this interplay of concealment, anticipation and revelation, Under Wraps considers how the first encounter with a work can shape the relationship that follows.

Spanning mirror-polished bronze, glazed ceramic stoneware, recycled aluminium, cast glass and precious metal leaf, the exhibition includes work by Niamh Barry, Peter Lane, Studio Furthermore, Kyeok Kim, Myungtaek Jung and Marc Fish, among others. Some pieces introduce entirely new bodies of work, while others extend established practices through greater scale, material ambition and technical refinement—reflecting both the evolution of the artists and a defining new chapter for Charles Burnand Gallery.
