Design Miami 2026 I Unveiling: A Visible Voice: Unveiling: A Visible Voice
There is a moment in an artist’s practice when technique becomes instinct, and years of working with a material give way to the freedom to express something entirely personal. It is this moment that Charles Burnand Gallery brings into focus at Design Miami 2026.
Returning to Miami Beach as the fair’s 2025 Best in Show winner, the gallery presents Unveiling: A Visible Voice, an exhibition exploring the relationship between material mastery and artistic expression. Responding to the fair’s curatorial theme of Unveiling, the presentation considers how an artist’s voice emerges through sustained enquiry, and how that voice finds its fullest expression in the work itself.
The practices brought together here have developed through years of experimentation, discipline, and an increasingly instinctive understanding of material. For some, this understanding opens the way to an unfamiliar medium or an entirely new typology. For others, it allows an established language to unfold with greater scale, confidence, and ambition. Each work represents a point at which accumulated knowledge becomes the foundation for artistic freedom.
Throughout the presentation, selected works remain concealed beneath semi-translucent architectural sheeting before emerging through a carefully choreographed sequence of automated unveilings. Light, movement, and anticipation shape the encounter, allowing each work to establish its presence as it comes into view. The act of revealing becomes an invitation to pause, look closely, and discover the decisions held within a surface or form.
Featuring works by Studio Furthermore, Marc Fish, DEGLAN, Peter Lane, Yanxiong Lin, Myungtaek Jung, Kyeok Kim, Inhye Ji, and Dawn Bendick, the exhibition brings together distinct approaches to Art Furniture, Illuminated Sculpture, Collectable Design, and Sculpture.
Following the opening of the gallery’s Mayfair flagship in September, Unveiling: A Visible Voice carries its programme to Miami, inviting visitors to encounter the moment when material, form, and an artist’s individual vision become inseparable.
